Weekend in San Francisco

Last weekend we headed up to San Francisco for the USC vs. Berkeley football game. We had a big group of friends who took the trip but only the Fergusons, Jake and I made it to the football game.

We arrived on Friday night and immediately went to Sushi Bistro, an amazing sushi restaurant owned by a friend we all went to high school with. The food is simply amazing. Dave's Legacy is seriously the best sushi I have ever had. After dinner, we were all feeling the sake and headed to our hotel in Union Square. After we checked in, we took cabs to the Marina (I think) and went to a bar there. We stayed until closing and headed back to Union Square where some of us went to bed and some of us went on a pizza rampage!

The next day was GAMEDAY! We woke up and immediately went the "swag room," as we affectionately call it, because USC normally sets up shop in a hotel ballroom for all of the road games where fans can buy merchandise and see who is selling/buying tickets. Graham and Christi still needed game tickets, but Jake and I had secured some from one of my co-workers earlier in the week. Christi found 2 available tickets with no problem, so we headed back to the room to get ready for the day. We had a somewhat smelly lunch at the Daily Grill across the street with the whole group before the 4 of us caught the BART up to Berkeley. We had to walk through Lovefest to get to the BART station and that was certainly an experience. Lets just call it Freakfest because thats what it really was.

Once in Berkeley we made our way to an awesome tailgate at Henry's, a local hotel that had converted its back parking lot into a giant Berkeley tailgate. It was so much fun and we met up with the Lyalls and Dane. We then headed up the hill to Cal's stadium. Our seats were amazing because we sat right next to the band. I freaking love our band and was so happy to be able to stand up and dance almost the whole game! Unfortunately we left the game at halftime because Jake wanted to get back to the city to go to dinner with our friends (again at Sushi Bistro but the other location). The BART was a cluster eff getting back, but we rushed back to our hotel room, changed and made it to dinner relatively timely. The rest of the night is kind of a blur, but I know we tried to go to a bar and then just ended up at our hotel bar.

Sunday morning we slept in, checked out of the hotel and headed to Fisherman's Wharf. Most of us had clam chowder on our minds, so we settled on a surf themed restaurant that served the chowder and a lot of other food. The boys mostly wanted to stay and watch the football games they had bet on and the girls wanted to explore. So us girls ate and then headed down the wharf for shopping and wine tasting. We met up with the boys, took a shot of Rumplmintz (our road game tradition) and went wine tasting again. Yep, 2 wine tastings in 1 day! After the wharf we picked up our luggage and ate at a restaurant near the hotel. Lastly, we headed back to the airport for some pre-flight beverages. Trust me, Jake needs them.

And thats about it. It was an awesome weekend and even better because the
Trojans won!
